In the vancouver area I saw a snake that was completely black with 2 blue (teal) lines running down it's sides! It lives close to a pond and creek if that helps.

I did google snake ID and nothing came up.

I have seen garter snakes in the same area but this looks different.
It doesn't scare me

I'd wager it's either a blue striped ribbon snake, or more likely a blue striped garter snake if the blue was bright. Neither is particularly dangerous.

Ok, im not such a great "snake identifier" but i know a little about them snakes. If it lives in a damp area, take for example, near a creek and/ or a pond, as you said, its most likely either a water snake of some sort or a grass snake. If you search on Yahoo or Google for snake identifying sites, you'll probably get a better answer(s).
Hope this helps a little though!

Water moccasins don't live that far north & they're not that color pattern at any rate. This sounds like it could be an Oregon gartersnake, very common in the Pacific Northwest, totally harmless , but it's almost impossible to I.D. a snake with that small of a description.

I'm not sure what kind of snake it is. Whatevery you do, proceed with caution. Do not approach the snake. Do not take for grantid that it is nonvenomous. Some snakes cross breed with each other, and even though it may appear to look like a garder snake doesn't mean that it is.

Try googling " BC snakes ". If it's a native snake it's quite likley you'll find it there.

I couldn't find anything, but that's because I'm scared of snakes and couldn't last on the websites because the pics freaked me out. Sorry!
