It depends on if you have access to laundry during your trip.
Pack as light as possible. I like to travel with a backpack...with my cosmetics, meds, camera , lap top, etc. Then a medium size suitcase that has a handle that can be pulled up so you can pull it while you walk. I also put in a bag in my suitcase that can be maybe the size of a pillow, but when empty folds down to next to nothing. I don't carry my purse, That stuff goes in my back pack, and I pack a smal purse to use when I need it. Otherwise the backpack is fine.
Pack wise. If you are going to Hawaii....you need three swim suits, two Tshirts and a pair of shorts, And light weight dress and one pair of flip flops.
When you pack, make sure you can mix and match your clothing. If a shirt gets dirty have another one that will match what you are wearing. It is wise to layer your clothing..like you have a tshirt, a sweater if you get colder and a windbreaker if you need to put over the sweater. Then as it gets warmer you can take off the layers.
Bring anything you might need becsue buying it will be costly.
Like tylanol, asprin, cold med.
If it is winter your clothing will be bigger, like sweaters, sweatshirts etc. You will need a larger suitcase.
Bon Voyage

depends on where you are going and how much money (travelers checks) you plan to bring. If you're going to florida (here) you might want to make sure your insurances are up to date and bring your laptop, swimsuit, sunglasses and towel. All this fits in a small carryon bag.
