Okay i heard this song at work today on Muzak. They were playing 80's music all day and this one song came on and it brought back memories.
Now here's the hard part of trying to find out who it is. The only things i can remember is that it was a woman singing and i think she almost had an English accent and also i think some if not most of the words where in some other language (French maybe?), so i tried hard to listen for some words that i can understand but the only word that i found English is the word petrified(i think).
But anyways it had a "real" 80's sound to it and its been eating at me all day.
Please for the love of God HELP. Thank you.

80's women with almost English accents singing in French... hm. Olivia Newton-John? Lady Marmalade was sung partly in French and Creole, but you'd never think the Pointer Sisters had an English accent. Nena Hagen sung 99 LuftBaloons...

OK I get the point you are desperate, but a little of the lyrics will help. Otherwise the only song I can think of is 99 Red Balloons.

Guessing here.

Rapture - Blondie

Toe to toe, dancing very close.
Body breathing almost comatose.
Wall to wall, people hypnotized.
And they're stepping lightly.
Hang each night, in rapture.
In rapture.
Back to back, sacroiliac.
Spineless movement and a wild attack.
Face to face, sightless solitude.
And it's finger popping.
Twenty four hour shopping in rapture.
Fab Five Freddy told me everybody's fly.
D.J. spinning, I said, "My, My."
Flash is fast, flash is cool.
Francois, c'est pas flashe non due.
And you don't stop, sure shot.
Go out to the parking lot.
And you get in your car and drive real far.
And you drive all night and then you see a light.
And it comes right down and it lands on the ground.
And out comes the man from Mars.
And you try to run but he's got a gun.
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head.
And then you're in the man from Mars.
You go out at night eating cars.
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too.
Mercurys and Subaru.
And you don't stop.
You keep on eating cars.
Then when there's no more cars you go out at night
And eat up bars where the people meet.
Face to face.
Dance cheek to cheek.
One to one.
Man to man.
Dance toe to toe.
Don't move too slow 'cause the man from Mars is through with cars.
He's eating bars.
Yeah, wall to wall.
Door to door.
Hall to hall.
He's gonna eat 'em all.
Rapture.
Be pure.
Man to man, body muscular.
Sismic decibel by the jugular.
Wall to wall tea time technology and a digital ladder.
No sign of bad luck in rapture.
In rapture.
In rapture.

That's funny. Several people have said 99 LuftBalloons and that was the first song that came to my mind before I scrolled down to read the other answers.

That's the only song that I can think of and she is German. If I had more details, I might be able to figure it out though.

I don't think there was any French in it, but Gloria Gaynor was the only artist of the 80's that I know of who had "petrified" in her song. The title of the song is: "I Will Survive". It is still today a very popular song and Gloria, bless her heart, still performs it and others regularly - now I do know that she does many concerts in Europe - because here in the US -we tend to forget our artists and you're only as good as your last hit - In Europe, they are still respected, loved and taken care of. Chaka Khan left the US for Europe, as well as Tina Turner and many other of our great ladies.

Sorry, I think I need more details. The only song that comes to mind is 99 Luftballoons. But her accent was German, not English, I think her name is Nena, but not sure.

OK, so I don't have a clue about the song.
Why don't you find out from your company who they contract for their in-office music, and then contact THAT company for their playlist for today (they have to have a copy of it, for royalty/copyright purposes). At least that would help you narrow the search, especially if their list includes the time each song was played.
Good luck!
