Now that Yahoo Answers has been up for sometime, I am curious - What have you learned from your experience here? What will you come away from Yahoo Answers with?

A greater understanding of the world around you or other cultures? An insight into what people are talking about? A surprise and wonder at the diversity in our midst? Anything?

I have used this forum to gain a deeper understanding of people's perspectives on spirituality, equality/racial issues, government and enjoyed quite a few laughs along the way. Everyday we pass by so many people never getting the opportunity to meet them or pick their brain, per se, and I think this site is a great invention to do just that!

At the same time, some people have absolutely shocked me by what they say to other people and how rude and hurtful they can be to just an innocent question (sure maybe a little ignorant, but innocent all the same) and their audacity to post some of the content/questions...I am sure if anyone had been near them or knew who they were, they may have been lynched!

Overall, I think this site is an excellent vehicle to a deeper understanding of the human race. I have met some really cool people on here and gained some new insights that I would never have arrived at just on my own. We may all have different looks, be of different backgrounds, and have unique perspectives, but overall we ARE all the same (like it or not!).

I have learned that there is a lot more bigotry against Mexicans than I ever would have suspected.
I have also learned that people can be more caring to strangers than i might have expected. (have seen people ask for "prayers" or "jokes" to cheer them up and people have been very kind about it.)

Some people are much ruder here than they would be face to face (I think).

OH, and that a lot of people answer questions for some arbitrary point system with no actual rewards. People seem to be competitive for no other reason than to compete.

I've learnt that Einstein was right when he said:" Two things in the world are infinite the Universe and the human stupidity, but i'm not sure about the Universe". I've learnt that he was right, there is much more stupidity than i thought
