My daughter is 11 months old and is getting all four top teeth in the front at once! She is in a lot of pain, especially at night, and can't sleep well. I have been giving her motrin at night but it says not to give it for more than 10 days. Tylenol hasn't helped her much at all. Is there anything else besides motrin or tylenol that I could give her at night to help ease the pain??? I have also tried teething tablets.

The same EXACT thing happaned to my daughter. All four top came in at once at 11 months. I feel for you. We developed this routine. About an hour and a half before bedtime, I'd give her Tylenol so that it would "kick in" by bedtime. Then warm bath and massage. Then before bedtime, I gave her oatmeal with a tiny bit of cammomile tea in it. Totally safe, I promise. Just be sure it's weak and you mix is 50/50 with apple juice or something. Okay, next...I gave her Hyland's Teething Tablets and followed it with hyland's teething gel. (On really bad days, I'd use Baby Anbesol but I don't like to use that stuff) This really worked for us. I know it sounds like alot but the ritual calmed her down and the homeopathic medicines really took the edge off. She slept 12 hours nearly every night. Best of luck!

The reason it says not to give it more than 10 days is because it's assuming you're using it for an illness. You can use Motrin for teething as long as you'd like - it's just ibuprofen. Bless her heart, and yours, too. Give her a little Benadryl, it will help with the swelling - but only a 1/2 a tsp - and wake her up halfway through the night and give her some Tylenol. Good luck!

At night U should give her the Motrin or Tylenol, and right after that put some baby ora-gel on her gums 2 numb it until the Motrin or Tylenol kicks in. She should have a peaceful sleep.

You are doing everything right so far. I'd try to rub the gums to help the teeth cut through faster. With my son ( only 7 month though ) i give him a frozen bagel thats thawing or a cold slice of apple, or a cold carrot basically the cold will numb the area so it feels better for a short while. but really give it a week or so and it'll be all over or at least those teeth will be mostly out and not be hurting anymore. and as a responce to one of the other comments please do not give more than the recomended doseage it could cause liver damage thats why they put a limit on the bottle.

Hi, this response is from a nurse and a mother.
I've tried orajel & while it does work, my daughter hated it because there is no way to get the gel on just the area of the gums that the teeth are coming in....& when she closed her mouth, it'd get on her tongue & that numbing feeling is very uncomfortable...but freezing the teething ring is a great idea...it works very well because babies enjoy the cold feeling in their mouth & the coolness help to numb the gums...another option which worked even better for my daughter follows the same basic idea... I'd crush some ice & wrap them in one of her small wash-rags, then tie it so nothing would fall out...she loved it because it was cold & works just as well as the teething ring...I loved it because the ice would melt & she'd be drinking water when she swallowed...& u know how kids hate to drink water.

Good luck

This might be totally off, but have you had her ears checked. Babies can get fluid and infection that causes pain at night when they lie down and doesn't cause a fever. Just a thought because 10 days is a long time for continuous teething pain. Good luck!

how long have these teeth been trying to come through?

you should get your daughter checked out by a dentist if she is severly teething for longer than a week...

i remember when my brother was a baby he was teething very badly and mom took him to the dentist. there was some kind of problem with his teeth coming through so the dentist cut his gums to help ease the pain and let the teeth pass through to the mouth...

his problems were over within about 48hours...

if this very long teething continues i suggest that you do take her to a dentist, just to be on the safe side...

My daughter got fourth teeth in at the same time too!
You could try some teething gel rubbed on the gums.
You could try giving her an icecube, or frozen fruit (in a Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder) to chew on.
You could also tie a knot in a washcloth, put it in freezer so its hard, but not too frozen, and let her gnaw on that!

Please give her doctor a call and ask what they recommend. They will want to know that she is having this difficulty and may even want to see her for a quick check.

Best wishes!! It's so hard to be a mom when the baby is in pain!!
