If I had to choose between these two ladies, I would have to say Janet Jackson. I think Janet has had more time in the business career of music and has maintained her beauty and self-esteem as best she could. On the other hand, it's not that I don't like Kelis, but 'who is she anyway"? I only mean that she has had a short career and there has not been much information floating around about her. I don't care much for either ladies' 'voice styles'. I don't like the high-pitched 'little girl-whispery singing. That is just not singing to me - I'm down to earth - Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Robert Flack, Billie Holiday singing. These girls are dress up "barbie dolls" with stick figures, big breasts and pretty clothes and teeth. Janet DOES have a heck of a show! Gotta give it to her. She can perform - but believe me - she has MUCH help in the background and on MPV. All that dancing - hey - even in my day - we had to stop and rest. You can't sing and dance that hard for 2-3 hours! It just ain't possible. As for Kelis - I have not liked anything I have heard her sing. Nothing. No thing. I love her husband though!!! He can rap to me all day and night - NAS!!!!

Janet Jackson has is by far! I'll tell you why...
If I have to hear that "MILKSHAKE" song one more time, I think I'm gonna puke! Is your milkshake really all that better?? NO! I don't know why I don't like her I just don't.
Janet is a vet. by now. She's been around for a lot of years. She is a GREAT entertainer. Janet has a great voice. She doesn't have to talk about how great her "milkshake" is, because she's a confident and sucessful woman. Janet Jackson is classy and has style. That's why talking about her "goodies" to a world full of people will never happen!

I like both of them. Janet Jackson was a hit back in the day & she still produces hits today. Kelis is a good artist & she has a laid back hip hop sorta style. In my opinion they should not be categorized together.
