He was Jesse Cochran in the first season, and then he was Jesse Katsopolos (sp?) after that. Why change it?

" At his request, the writers of "Full House" (1987/I) gave his character the last name of Katsopolis, instead of the original character's name, Cochran, in order to highlight John's Greek heritage."

They wanted to add some ethnicity to the show.
The original change was to make Jesse's last name be "Hernandez", but then they changed that to Katsopolos at the last moment.

He was hiding from the cops but it all got cleared up and he used his greek name.
That or Cochran was his stage name since Katopholous isn't fan friendly.

i don't know if they ever said why they changed it but yes he did have two different names. And no it was not because he married Rebbecca Donaldson. Maybe they changed it because the new one sounded better and he would need a better name if he was going to be a singer... kinda like a stage name.
