Check out local parlors and shops, you can tell which ones to totally avoid. Call your health authority to have them recommend one. Does it hurt? Depends on your pain tolerance.

They say it does. The word tattoo comes from the idea of drumming. Tattooing is drumming the point of a needle into your skin with dye in order to make some sort of design.

I don't know if you can be sure the place is safe or not. Even a clean place might have the odd problem.

The thing is, once you have it, it is very hard to get off. What if the artist messes up the design or the colors? Or you get tired of it after a while?

Think it through well before you join the tattoo crowd.

Well the tattoo artist should be wearing gloves and the needles should be from a new pack opened in front of you look around and see if it's clean and ask any of your friends where they get there's done and who they recommend, find someone with a good reputation. It hurts at first then you become numb to it and after an hour you can't even feel anything.

ok some tattoos hurt because it depends on where you get them at on your body. like if its on a bone or very close to it its going to hurt more. Now about how clean it is, ok you first of all look at what the lobby looks like, also if the tattoo artist doesn't put a new needle in the thing then you need to leave. like if its just sitting there and then you sit down and then the tattoo artist starts to use it on you either ask him to put a new needle in it so you can see him doing that or just get up and leave.

Every tattoo hurts. The degree of pain depends on the sharpness of the needles and where the tattoo is. The more "padded" the area the less painful. Tattoos right on top of bone hurt like hell.

Reputation will tell you whether or not to trust an establishment about sanitation.

You will watch the artist open the sealed bag that the needle is in before they start, and dont go to anywhere scumy... and no i dont think getting a tattoo hurts... however it depends on how much pain you can handle... the first line was a little shocking because you were just getting used to it, but after that, it just feels more annoting than painful.. it isnt that bad at all... At least i didnt think so, and i am a girl

It doesn't hurt all that bad. As for cleanliness, make sure they open the needles in front of you. Ask a lot of questions before you get the tatto. And ask around, if a place is nasty it will have the repuation of being that way. Ask people with tattoos where they got theirs.

well first and foremost it is your body, your temple so make sure you go somewhere reliable and somewhere you feel comfortable. Tattoo's do hurt but they are a pain that is overrated and misunderstood. Until you get your first tattoo you will not understand the beauty and significance of the pain you feel. I myself personally love the feeling of getting a tattoo. It is a piece of Art added to your body and it will be something you cherish forever.
