As a senior there is an event that takes place in September that is like a beauty pagent for all the girls where we get dressed up in formal dresses and are basically shown to the whole rest of the high school It's a pretty big deal, and underclassmen girls and boys all ooh and ahh at the dresses.

My mom doesn't understand this, and she wants me to wear a dress I wore to another event as a Junior. She bought me another dress anyway, but it doesn't feel special enough. She thinks that I should rewear the other dress because it is beautiful, but I don't want 2. She also is reluctant to get another dress because the other one cost $45 and she spent more on my sister's prom dress and yet she thinks all dresses should cost that much. This event is SPECIAL!

Plus the girls @ my school are upper class...I am middle middle class; but I can't wear the same dress twice...They'll laugh!

Also I have been dreaming about this since 9th grade...I want to be beautiful!

it's not a dance! And I had a job but it starts during the school year and I don't make that much. It's the only time besides a wedding where u feel this princess like and I don't think I'm getting married!

You could offer to pay half if you have a job...but if you don't want to, try discount and consignment stores. I know, you might be like "eww, used clothes?"

BUT, I've heard awesome stories where people have found gorgeous vintage dresses there. You will have to look hard for one in your size and up to a good quality standard, but it's the best place to find a fantastic deal. People have seriously found major designers (like Chanel, Donna Karen, etc) at these stores for amazingly low prices just bc wealthy people can't use these anymore.

Good luck!

If your mom won't buy you the dress that you want, what are the chances that you might go out and get a job (maybe even with the place that sells the dress of your dreams so you can get a discount on it) and earn it yourself? Parents have a lot of stuff to pay for. If you want a better dress, it's up to you to make it happen.

Get over it it's just a dance that you'll regret going to when you're older anyhow Try getting her to go into a store like Deb that has the dresses for cheaper and comprimise on the price if you really want a new dress.
