If everyone had that point of view then there would never be any technological progress.
You need to look at the wider picture - this is not just about 'waiting a few seconds for a page to load' but enabling a larger and richer amount of information to be exchanged over the web. Moving from 2 meg to 8 meg is only a small step in a long evolution.
Anyway, whats the harm of allowing people 8meg connections rather than 2meg, or 56k for that matter? If the technology is available then why shouldnt it be used.
And by the way - this site isnt really meant for discussion topics like these - you should really post your message on a forum.

No, people haven't even started going too far yet... For example, there is no reason not to send DVD-quality streaming movies over the Internet (kiss goodbye to both Blockbuster and Netflix), except there's no technology yet that can do it fast and inexpensively... We'll see what happens when T1/T3 arrives to the home...

no its just the begining, 8mb is nothing really.
go to korea where they have the largest optical network so far, with download speeds of 100mbs. Which is ideal for on demand films and tv

Its for downloading massive files like movies or software, also playing games, and multi tasking.
Im on 512k and its fine for what im doing, but i will take advantage of 8meg when i start playing games.

They can wait for pages to load, but people are just more impatient.

within my lifetime there will probably be no human contact at all(strangers i mean) . We will all just connect to the internet all day, everyday. Its scary the influence it has.
