In New England we have Black Buzzards, other places have Turkey Vultures, I have seen the Buzzards flying and at first thought they were ravens.I am always hoping to see a Raven close up so I pay attention to any black large bird I see.

The turkey vulture comes closest to what you describe. It's wattle is not as long as a turkey's though.
Are you seeing this in the USA?

ravens are simular to crows but most are larger don't know about the waddle sounds like some kind of vulture tho has there been something die around there lately
