I just got a dwarf hamster in May and I want to see how long he lives?

It depends a little on the breed. Do you know what kind of dwarf hamster you got? Many hamsters from pet stores aren't labeled right anyway, so don't worry if you don't know what breed it is exactly.
They usually can live from about 1.5 years to 3.5 years (although it depends on species).

The ones that are especially hard to tell apart are the Campbells and the Winter White hamsters. The other ones are pretty easy.

We had 2 chinease dwarf hamster which we bought from the same litter in October 2003 when they were 8 weeks old. They were both grils. One died October 2005 and the other one dired in May 2006, so the oldest one lived 2 years 9 months. The book said anything between 2 and 4 years.

It depends on how well you care for it. If you let it get enough exercise, water and give a varied diet (bits of carrot, tomato, celeriac, apple, strawberries, etc) it'll live longer than on just 'plain' hamster food. I owned several dwarf hamsters, and the oldest reached three and a half.
