No you cannot get pregnant, but if you have sex the day before, or two days before your period is over, then yes you can get pregant. Because sperm can live up to two days(or survive) in the vagina. The reason why is because the vagina is extremely acidic, and the sperm cannot last long in that kind of environment. The sperm has protection from seminal vesicle fluid, bulbourethral gland fluid, and prostatic fluid. These fluids neutralize the vagina so that it is not hazardous to the semen so that it can fertilize the ovum(egg) There are three stages in the menstrual period the 1st is the proliferative phase(day 1-12), which is when the endometrial wall is building up on cell after having your period, the 2nd is the secretory phase(day 13-25) which is when the ovaries are secreting LH(leutinizing hormone), and FSH(follicle stimulating hormone), the the third mestruating period, when the uterus is getting rid of the egg. Then the cycle starts all over again as you already know. I hope that my information is very infomative, and yes I know I am not a female, but I am studying to become a doctor, and we have to know everything about everybody. So I hope that my info helps, and when in doubt, get birth control or use condoms. Never test your luck, or he can always get a vasectomy.....lol just kidding!

Yes You can get pregnant while having sex, but the period might not stop.
My older sister had a couple of friends in college who ran around the halls asking people this. The boy asked a drunk guy if he could get pregnant during a period and the drunk guy responded, "I don't get periods." So the couple resolved that the boyfriend was right.

That would be very unusual but it can happen. The most fertile time of the month is usually half way between two periods (about 2 weeks before your period is due.) BUT- please don't rely on this. Use birth control unless you want a baby now.
There is good birth control you can obtain at the local pharmacy without even having to see a doctor. A combination of birth control foam PLUS condoms PLUS not having sex during the fertile times of the month can be a good plan. (Using ALL three methods.)
Best wishes!

t's possible to become pregnant from vaginal intercourse at any time in the menstrual cycle. It's true that with a lot of learning and months of very careful recordkeeping and planning some women can figure out when they're most fertile, which can help if they're trying to get pregnant. But if a woman's trying to avoid pregnancy, there may be safer times for unprotected sex, but there is no guaranteed safe time.

don't listen to the one word answer crowd. you deserve a more developed answer.
in a nutshell, no, you cannot get pregnant when having sexual intercourse during your period. as a matter of fact, it is the LEAST likely time (in terms of cyclic timing) to get pregnant.
your ovulation occurs 14 days from the START of your menstruation. so unless your man has a never-before-discovered super-sperm that can survive for 10-14 days, then relax.

No not likely. And if you don't want to get pregnant use a condom/birth control. Buy a book and educate yourself on these things.
