Rather would have a few genuine friends. I went through a time in grammar school and the beginning of high school where I had none and was a really big wallflower, made the few true ones I had and then slowly began coming out of my shell. Then more girls in my class started recognizing me and so I was pretty well known (I won't say "popular" but well known b/c I was one of 7 blacks out of a class of 268 girls, and trying to "be black" was the thing for most of them.) But I realized I was happiest with my close group of 6 friends (who weren't the black girls, they were white and more like my sisters than the other blacks ever were). I'm proud to have them as my friends and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I don't have a few genuine friends I have one genuine friend and that is enough if she was to move away I would just hate it and miss her so much. I also thing been popular is not all that its cracked up to be. From what I have heard you have to think. who is there when something goes wrong. IE who will take the time out and sit with you if you were in hospital or sick at home and if you did not have a partner who would be the friend that would bring you/and or your kids some meals just heat and eat. these are the friends that people want so even if you only have one genuine friend that is all you need. fake friends fake people just want to use you and then move on to the next person that comes along.

Genuine friends are much more rare, popularity is fleeting and the unhappiness lasts longer. I would go with the genuine friends.

well..you have to have a few genuine friends. who else are u gonna confide in? your parents? some things should not be shared with parents.
personally i've always had a few close friends. it jsut works better that way. you can have as many "acquaintances" as you want. but don't skip out on the real loyal friends who've got your back.
i've also gone the popular route and had alot of random "friends" but i always knew they were never my friends just ppl to have fun with and party. nothing more than that. dont confuse the two.

First of all, you don't need friends to make you happy. You must first find happiness and acceptance in yourself. You are your own person, your friends don't make you who you are.
And to answer your question.. I would rather have one or two genuine friends who are trustworthy, rather than be "popular" and unhappy.
