Our country's media is obsessed with covering her-- why is she more famous than any other actress of similar repute?

Because she is the 'flavor of the moment' and if putting her mug on a magazine will sell more of them, then that's what they'll do. When her breasts grew in size, so did her popularity. People wanted to know if they were fake, blah, blah,blah. And then they foolishly compared her to Ann Margaret thus the spin doctors in her camp started to work their magic. With her underage drinking, her family problems, and her mama who is trying to live vicariously through her, it allows her to get acting jobs she has no talent for and to sing (at least it's better than the Simpson girls or the Hilton skank). She will eventually be used up and cast off so another may take her place.

I wondered why the paparazzi are so obsessed with her as well, she's OK, but hardly all that and a bag of chips. Maybe it's because there isn't anyone else in town they can haunt and she has a reputation for being wild. It used to be Tara Reid, Christina Aguilara and Britney Spears - after awhile they move along to new prey and LL will be a has been. That's sad, but seems to be the way things are in the artificial community called Hollywood.

I think she is so famous because of her soft voice, willingness to show cleavage and display of early talents as an actess. Oh yeah and really good publicist. She's a "triple threat" and do NOT underestimate the marketing power of teeny boppers and tweens. They're practically ruling the entertainment world. They've liked weirder stuff (and people).

She was a child hood star & really seemed 2 embark on the scene when she did the movie ParentTrap. And the movie Mean Girls did make her a little more famous.

she's famous for the wrong reasons..she suffers from "exhaustion" and then the next night she's out partying..i have no idea why the media is so obsessed with this no talent party girl who won't be taken seriously ever

Maybe its out of pity, since her whole body is covered in freckles!!!!! yuk!
And the fact that she always seems to get in an accident or make a total fool out of herself in public.... Some people have to really work at getting in the lime light! lol

Because our country has an unhealthy attraction to girls under 21. Give it some time...in a couple of years she'll be invisible.
