Nook Logan in the Tigers farm system has blazing speed. In the big leagues now I would say Ichiro.

Kansas City Royal's outfielder Joey Gathright might be the fastest man in Major League Baseball (3.3 seconds from home to first on a bunt), although there aren't accurate records kept for such feats.
I recall that in Reggie Jackson's autobiography, he claims to have been clocked as fast as 2.9 seconds back when he was a rookie with the Kansas City A's.....He was fast, but 2.9? Doubtful...
Sorry Mick, no way you EVER went 3.1, let alone 2.9, add about 1 second and you mignt be close...no white boy was ever that fast!

From I remember reading "The Mick"....the "Commerce Comet" aka Mickey Mantle went 2.9 from the left side and 3.1 from the right side........they didn't call him the "Commerce Comet" for nothing.....he ruined his knees his first year trying to cover for DiMaggio in center and stepped on a sprinkler.....never was the same after that.....no way Reggie was ever that fast!!.....with his mouth talking about himself....maybe then........Mantle was among the fastest ever!!

I've heard Mickey Mantle when he was young and batting left handed was ~ 3.5 seconds - that's as fast as Ichiro or Pierre
