Well, actually, Europe is stronger than America economically. EC has an economy nearly 50 percent larger than the US. The US dollar has lost one-third of its purchasing power in the past 5 years against the Euro. Any ideas why? Not too many years ago, Euro was worth 80 cents, now it is worth $1.20.
On a per capita income basis, Europe trails America a little, in part, because of the age of the population. Additionally, Europe doesn't artificially inflate the value of their medical services; USA has the highest per capita health care expenditures in the world, by a huge margin, and the 23d best health in the world. And health care is one of the largest industries in the USA.
Additionally, the US economy is being artificially propped up by the Communist Chinese, because it is in their interest to buy US debt and keep the value of the RMB relatively low to continue to build their economy by selling to the US.
Who once said, "and the capitalists will some us the rope to hang them with"?

USA's economy is not strong in reality. People with investment realize this for the most part. That is why the stock market is about where it was one year ago. But, the economy is growing, so what we have is a growing economy everywhere except at home in terms of good jobs we the necessary benefits that make a good economy.
The middle class is losing money and people. The Republican Administration has turned its back on good excellent economic policy that grew the Middle Class, but now we are racing to the bottom.
Money in a global economy has no home. So a lot of the excess or profit money is being spent in other countries. That is OK for other countries but it represents a loss of capital and jobs here at home. And the Republican don't give dam or just don't understand that if you want a good and viable economy, you have to invest in America.
The cream is going elsewhere, and the vitality is bleeding out of the United States. Does the investment class care?

American Economy is in no way stronger than Europe's at this moment. Look at the correlation between the Euro and the Dollar currency as an example. Our money is weak, worth half of theirs at least. Not only that but our unemployment is rising and without social healthcare, most Europeans are in better shape than we are over here. Let's not even mention the state of our social security and the education system.
American economy is going downhill and I am not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel anytime soon!

European economies are lagging behind because of slow growth in France and Germany. France have poor labor laws and a high tax economy, whereas Germany's manufacturing industry (among other things) is hurting.
Not all European economies are lagging behind though. Look at Ireland. One of the fastest growing economies in the world. The average Irish citizen is second only to the Japanese in terms of personal wealth.

The American economy is stronger because we don't have the social program drain as much as European countries. also we work longer hours than our counterparts over there. There are some area of the economy that are better their. Our lesser unemployment is a major asset to us. The unemployment rate in Europe is higher which does cause a drain on society.

Because they are Socialists. National this and national that, healthcare, payments for having kids. Think taxes are bad here, check out most European country.
In France they are losing thousands of people a year, because they want to be prosperous but just cannot be under the current level of taxation.
Socialism fails every time it is tried, you can call in Socialism, Communism or Liberalism either way it is doomed to failure.
Lol, the bozo right before me says Europe is a little stronger except that it isn't... must be a John Kerry voter! ROTFLMAO!!

American economy is actually slowing horribly, and European economy continues to grow. America is the hare, but Europe, apparently, is the Tortoise, and is going to win the race.

Total disregard for the environment and wasteful exploitation of natural resources (and a certain disrespect for their workforce, compare vacation, pay, welfare, etc. with Europe's leading economic countries). A shortsighted approach (I am talking economic terms here - 50years plus), sort of party now, pay the bill later.
The US is practicing the 'Penny smart, Dollar stupid' method on a very large scale.....

In some ways Europe is more civilized than we are. Shorter working hours, longer vacations, national health care. Here we work more and more hours and days, take short vacations, and there are just a lot of us!
