The meaning of life is found in the understanding of your soul. Your life is an opportunity to nurture your soul. Everything you do, everything you say, and even everything you think, affects your soul. (So be careful of the thoughts that enter your mind.)

Your soul is nurtured by three things, (1) seeking knowledge, truth, & wisdom, (2) practicing love, service and selfless sacrifice, and (3) relishing everything in this world that is beautiful. Surround yourself in things that are beautiful and find beauty everywhere and in everyone. When you do this you will find that these three things are actually all the same. There is a blending of truth and beauty, of beauty and love and love for truth. When you are able to see all things working for this perfection and you, yourself a part of this perfection, then you will find your answer. Enjoy the ride.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the maning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

While it might be nice to think we'll see our dead relatives or friends, without proof, it's alot of fanciful thinking.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes.

What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping others and other 'feel good' pursuits.

It's a movie starring the Monty Python gang.

And now for something completely different:

Life has only the meaning you give it yourself. You can choose your own goals and values, your own ends and means. Basically, there are three sorts of alternative, and each has both positive and negative 'roads' to take.

One, you can live life selfishly. This, from a moral point of view, is negative - looking out at all times for 'number one'. But it need not be negative - not if you have a special ability or high degree of ability (say, in art) and you concentrate on developing that ability in a way that is 'selfish' in the short term but is likely to make a contribution to human good in the long term.

Two, you can invest yourself in others. This can range from simply concentrating on being a good parent, to being a dedicated contributor to some community or some organization, whether it be a religion, a political party, a commercial company, etc. But the negative side of this is that you might, in the latter part of your life, find that the group you have dedicated yourself to has not appreciated your contribution, or has changed negatively from what it was despite your efforts, and you might, when it is too late, regret not indulging yourself a little more than you did.

Thirdly, you can turn away from both self and others and, negatively, abandon any attempt to be a moral person, letting yourself be ruled by your emotions or appetites, to the cost of both yourself and those around you. Or, positively, become one of those intensely 'practical' people who 'get things done' in the purely physical sense (but are good for little else).

Of course, it is possible to combine elements of each of the three basic alternatives - though it probably isn't advisible, for sanity's sake, to combine both negative and positive roads.

Life is about choices. Your life is about your choices.

Ah, yes the pro verbal "what is life about question". Life is not a thing it is a way or a pathway we must travel to get from one destination to another.Life is a span of time between the physical birth and the physical death. In that span the Creator has given us the power of choice and reason. The reason is for making judgments into ourselves the choice is to show true love we can chose to love Him or deny His existence and to love and believe takes more effort than most want to admit. So choose your path wisely and never stop seeking God even if you aren't Christian seek Him. Hope this helps and makes some sense in all this madness of this life.

If you read the Bible from beginning to end it becomes evident that the meaning of our existence is pretty simple: We exist to glorify God. I'm not a "religious fanatic" but I believe this to be true. Our successes and our failures, tragedies and celebrations whether personal or on a global scale, the intricacies of our world and the universe, and the wonder and complexity of our bodies and our ability to reason and think, the variety and balance of the animals and all that is around us all reflect the glory and magnificence of God the Creator.

When you wake up, look at the sky and see what immense thing it is. Then remember that compared to the universe it is nothing. Then remember that you are nothing compared to all of it. So what would be the meaning of such an insignificant thing? It would be adoring its Creator, The Only One capable of making it all work. Think of that.

Our purpose on earth. How about to find meaning in life. To wake up everyday to a new adventure. How about looking at your jeans. If the knees aren't worn out maybe its because you don't pray enough. Let go. Let God.

That is the number one question in the universe. Good like finding an answer - there must be multi-millions of them, one for every person on this planet.

Life is empty and meaningless. One infuses meaning into one's own life, and into the lives of all others, the moment one becomes aware of oneself. It's all down hill from there folks. Keep it empty, keep it real, keep it what it is and meaning will never be the blindfold that allows you to walk into walls that are not really there.
