I usually just listen. But whenever I have something to say, people stop what they are doing and listen. They all turn around and look, like I'm going to say something mind-blowing all the time. Whay is that?

I meant "why is that?"

Mark Twain: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I'd like to think people listen when I speak because I try not to so much. You'll never engage in an intelligent conversation with anyone if you seek to monopolize the conversation. Because I listen more than I speak (there IS a reason we've got two ears and one mouth, after all), my words should carry more weight.

I expect that's why people listen to you, even when what you say is not "mind-blowing". It's refreshing to receive intelligent input that we listeners can give.

Enjoy!

I think because they know something intellectual is going to come out from your mouth. Obviously, people also like to stare at beauties. If I were to be there, I would definitely stop and stare at you whenever you talk, there's no way a guy can take their eyes off you.

The reason they stop to listen is because you don't often talk, so they assume you are wise and that what comes out of your mouth will be precious. Of course this is b*ll*cks. It's more likely that they want to hear what you're made of since you don't often give your opinion.

People listen to me when I talk but there are particular individuals that come and speak to me and I know that when I talk to them all they're interested in is the next person that they're going to go and talk to next....This is not my problem but theirs.....so I try not to talk to them much.

Sometimes when I speak I feel like people couldn't care less what I have to say but then I other times it's exactly how you say. Everyone turns and looks at me and then I get all nervous and completely forget my thought and look stupid. I hate when that happens.

I think it is a sign of respect when someone truly is listening to you. It tells you that there is nothing them that is distracting them from what you have to say. They value the words you have and and want to give you their full attention,

In our workplace we have a rule. When the boss starts to talk, we appoint someone to listen, so we don't all have to wake up or look like we care.

They probably figure if you're quiet most of the time what you say ought to be good. Or, they've heard things you've said in the past and they tend to be good.

People tend to listen to me, but not always.
