Castor oil. Not absorbed so it won't affect the baby, but it sure worked for my wife.

I wouldn't take a laxative. I tried walking, raspberry tea, licorice, Mexican food, sex, and just about any thing else you could think of. I did not want to try the laxative as it can possible make the baby have a bowel movement also. I still had my daughter 2 weeks after my due date with an induction.

If the doctors had wanted you to take a laxative to "hurry things up" they would of told you! Use your head and don't endanger your fetus for your own convience.
Come on! Call your doctor and play with your nipples/have sex, and be patient. Read a book and get educated on things like this.

It's VERY dangerous--laxatives cross the placenta which means the baby gets the medicine too and it can make baby have a bowel movement in utero. When this happens if the baby aspirates it it can be life threatening. Don't take the chance.

Laxatives won't hurry things up.....you are gonna have this baby any minute on your own. Fiber Laxatives are safe to take as directed if you are worried about being constipated. They sell them at any drug store. Try doing alot of walking, it sent me into labor.

I would think it couldn't be good for the baby. I know they say having a bowel movement might help however, stripping the baby of all its nutrients like that can't be good. Also, a laxative can be a little harsh sometimes on yourself...you might feel even worse than you do now.

Ask your gynecologist their are only one or two they recommend and they are stool softeners not laxatives and safer. Iron in your prenatal vitamin usually causes that.
