why are us americans always bragging about our country because its free? isnt canada free? what about france, great britain, italy and scotland...? arnt most countries free?

Because we have more freedoms? and that's what our country was founded on unlike those other countrys.By the way Scottland is a group of countrys.

American brag about our country being free because at one time the countries that you mentioned did not have the freedoms that we have. Right now in Scotland/Ireland religion is, actually always was a big issue. I'm sure you know about the Catholics and the Protestants there. We have the freedom to talk, write and joke about our presidents. In other countries you could have and some countries still might, be punished for saying anything bad about it's president, king, queen or whatever their country head is called. To go in and out of Canada one needs a visa and proof of identification and all kinds of paperwork so I don't know how 'free' that is! I hope I helped you some!

Canada, Great Britain, Italy, etc. etc. are all free and can sing and brag about it all they want. In the US, we naturally sing and brag about our own country.
Doesn't make much sense singing about Sweden.
Our country love it or leave it.

Makes us feel unique. And sort of like we're independantly responsible for the word freedom, and that if anyone else is free, then we like to think that we were instrumental in providing it to them. There's some ego mixed in there.
