The Exciters in 1963. This was used for the soundtracks of the films The Big Chill and My Best Friend's Wedding. In 1997, Vonda Shepard covered this for the sitcom Ally McBeal.
Brenda Reid sang lead and "Tell Him," made it all the way to #4 on the Pop charts on January 26, 1963, and #5 R&B. Although they had only one top 40 hit, they also charted with:
- "He's Got the Power" #57
- "Get Him" #76
- "Do Wah Diddy" #78 (only 8 months before Manfred Mann)
- "I Want You to Be My Boy" #98
- A Little Bit of Soap" #58
During this time the Exciters were touring with artists like Wilson Pickett and as an opening act for the Beatles.
