I am a liberal Democrat and yes, I do believe the media is making a bigger deal of this incident then it need to. Mel Gibson was wrong to say the things he did but heck, this is America and I have been taught that we have freedom of speech and are free to think the way we want even though it might offend someone. This is one thing I don't get about my brothers on the left. They want to curb free speech like they are some type of closet conservative Republicans. I find it hard to understand. In America a person can stand on his own two feet and not need the media to rescue them from someone who is making bigoted comments about them.

You can always turn it off that's what I do. The big deal is that he made this big movie called the "Passion of the Christ" and he did it alone without the help of Hollywood or distributors. Thus making a huge statement not only about his faith but also about Hollywood. I'm sure that the statement of his faith is why he's being slammed now. I really like Mel, but I have ZERO tolerance for drunk drivers. If the "big deal" their making in the media right now, makes someone else not drink and drive I'm all for it.

I really don't know the incident to which you refer. I DO know that if you say anything SLIGHTLY unkind about a Jew, Black, Hispanic,Gay or any group other than whites, the media will go to town on you. Liberals control the major news media, Mel put out a film about the life of Jesus. The film did exceedungly well despite their best efforts and now they have a way to to tarnish what he did. He's an *** for giving them this oppertunity, they are assholes for taking it.

Poor Mel has the beginnings of what might be termed as "dementia." You're right in that they should leave this poor future derelict alone... he's in & out of "sound mind," and God help him, he would have a difficult time setting up any "durable attorney" if his condition continues to deteriorate at this rate.... I wouldn't be surprized to hear of him urinating, uncontrollably, in public while he laughs hysterically and howls at the moon. Do you see my point? Mel should be treated as one would treat any poor indigent with a brown bag of cheap wine in one hand... I know you understand this too.
