They hurt? Gosh, mine never really hurt...actually it was kind of exciting each time it happened. I'd get out my stop watch and start timing them. If Braxton Hicks hurt honey, you're in a world of hurt come the real thing. Sorry. No pain, no gain!

You can take Tylenol or other OTC painkillers (check with your doctor first!), but depending on how hard the Braxtons are hitting you, this may not be enough. It is the perfect time to practice your breathing. I wish I had spent more time practicing breathing with my first pregnancy. I relied on the pain medication in labor, and as it turned out, due to a back injury I had had 6 years earlier, the epidural didn't work on the left side of my body!
With my second pregnancy, I did a few prenatal yoga videos (my husband isn't the "type" to go to a refresher childbirthing class!), and I used the breathing techniques when I had Braxtons, which started in my 34th week. When I went into labor, I was able to manage my pain until just 2 hours before giving birth (I was about 6 cm dilated.) Then I tried the epidural again - and the epidural worked until I entered transition, then the epidural failed and the pain was back, and boy was I glad I practiced breathing!!
Best of luck!

I am 35 weeks along and they have been getting pretty uncomfortable for me as well. I drink tons of water, urinate as often as I have to (full bladders intensify the pain of any contraction, and irritate your uterus, let's not mention UTI's which are incredibly painful). If you are doing this and still having contractions lie down on your left side and/or walk a bit. If your contractions are getting stronger with walking, or you can't talk through them call your doctor.
With my second pregnancy I had lots of BH contractions, and when I went into labor I thought it was BH still. I didn't call my doctor until I was in active labor, and that was a huge mistake for me as I delivered very soon after getting to the hospital, and it could of been in the car!
When in doubt call your midwife/ob, and it is okay to take regular strength tylenol once in awhile.

try a nice warm bath or standing under a warm shower spray. lay on your left side and take deep breaths. also try to walk slowly when they come on. if you have more than 6-8 contractions in an hour be sure to call your OB/GYN also tylenol may help with the discomfort. good luck

Not to scare you or anything, but if you are finding Braxton Hicks uncomfortable, boy are you in trouble when the real stuff comes.

Drink a big glass of water and lay down for a bit. If you are dehydrated it can cause contractions, so the water might help.

You poor thing! Have a warm bath, they do go away eventually. Try to relax, what i felt comforting was kneeling over the bed and breathing at a slow pace.

I found that taking warm baths helped me alot. Sometimes just lying down slowed them a bit too. Sounds like you don't have long to go so good luck!

Absolutely nothing...just try and either walk it off or lay down and try to get comfortable on your left side
