If you became president, what is the first issue you would tackle in America?

Corruption in the Senate. There are too many power crazed politicians that act only for themselves. The Senate is supposed to stand up for what is right and good for our country. They are completely out of order right now. Something has to be done.

I would push for a sunset law, that would take all laws off the books that are not renewed every 3 years. They would have to be renewed individually, NOT in batches, to make sure that all the asinine ones would be eliminated.
Might get some freedom back into this country, the type it once possessed.
Thomas Jefferson thought that there should be a revolution every 19 years, so that the new generation wouldn't be dragged back by the laws of the previous generation.
Too bad that was not done. Also, the founders set things up so there would be no general tax, because that could be used to bribe the citizenry to vote for them. These guys were bright.
So what was done?
They instituted a general tax, and now the politicians can buy the populations' votes...

I to am libertarian, yet i plan on balloting democrat because of fact i'm extremely against the fiscall inresponsibility (interior the form of the iraq conflict, amoung different issues) and ethical irresponsiability of the bush administration, and that i think that the republican applicants are all in some way extensions of that. i'd vote for Ron Paul additionally if he had a brilliant gamble.

I would probably tackle the issue of poverty in our own country. We are a rich country, but our poverty level is high. There must be an explanation somewhere for this. I find it hard to believe that all people below the poverty level are lazy, so the answer lies somewhere else.

The Illegal Alien INVASION. I would immediately close the border with Mexico at all costs and start deportation of all illegal aliens and children born to them while illegally in the USA. The Illegal Alien Invasion and how it is dealt with, is what will be the defining factor in America's future. To me it would have to be health care, and prescription drugs. It's ridiculous how much it can cost for someone to go to the hospital for anything. Especially if you had cancer or anything and didn't have any good insurance. Prescription drugs are getting way out of hand to. I know people who pay $1500/month for medication, and I'm sure there are people out there paying more. It's not right these companies can charge that much for these drugs just because they know they can get away with it.
