We have a groundhog that decided to invade our yard. I have kids and a dog so I do not want to use harmful chemicals. Does anyone have any good tips to remove him?

Unless you are willing to pay a licensed trapper to live trap and remove the animal, you don't have many options. I once owned a dog who had a fondness for groundhog, but it takes a good sized dog to dispatch one. In my part of the country, we shoot them at short range with a .22 magnum rifle, and at long distance with higher caliber rifles. In fact, thorobred horse farm owners pay people to kill them as a horse can break a leg if it steps in a groundhog hole. A multimillion dollar race horse that breaks a leg in a groundhog hole may have to be destroyed, and certainly is diminished in value. It is a big deal.

Good luck with your problem.

You will find products at Ace Hardware and on line. These are natural products One is called Shake A Way. Another is made by the Haveaheart people. Type in Groundhog removal into your search window. That should start you off.

The pee answer was close...apply directly or urinate in a container first thing in the morning, then pour contents across the path that he uses.repete every morning...and he will leave. you might say he'll leave pissed off!

i've heard if you put those plastic flowers that spin when the wind blows, that they don't like it and will leave. they are fairly cheap, so it might be worth a try.

I've never tried it, but I've heard if you pee on the hole, they'll go away.
