Because the law, especially criminal law, is a magnificent, ever changing, living thing.... an instrument that, if played well, can make our society a better, freer, safer one. The task of the defense lawyer, that of making sure the prosecution PROVES guilt, beyond reasonable doubt, and of ensuring that the trial is a fair one, that is among the noblest things to which a human can devote themselves.
Anyone who can't understand why you'd study law does not deserve an explanation.

Becoming an expert in any endeavor, whether it be a scientist, lawyer or car mechanic, requires intellectual curiosity about that subject. If you are curious about how laws are made, applied and enforced, and want to know more about it, then you are lawyer material. You may have found something that not only satisfies your need to learn but also can be an important and honorable profession.
If you're in it for the money, you can do it but you probably won't be happy. However, if you find law fascinating and want to be a part of it, consider yourself lucky. You've found something better than a job -- it's a process of research and discovery that will keep you productive for decades.
Good luck!

Law is part of Government, it reflects how society operates, it affects every area of our lives. Studying law is useful not just if you want to be a lawyer but for other fields as well. We all need to know about taxes, in business we need to know about contracts, as individuals we need to know about leases and mortgages. We should know about making wills, what our rights and duties are as members of Society. What we can and cannot do. And yes Justice should be the concern of every responsible citizen because everyone is affected by it and only we can change or improve it.
If you want some inspiration as to the practice of law I would recommend that you read about Clarence Darrow one of the greatest lawyers ever. This is one of the things he said:
"As long as the world shall last there will be wrongs, and if no man objected and no man rebelled, those wrongs would last forever."
Best wishes.

the law is like a giant machine that sits on society and sifts people. it's invisible, but the parts exist and they move in grand and complicated sequences. that is my impression anyway, and that is why i wish to be a lawyer. i want to learn how this machine works, because at this point in time it is so vast and complex that you need a pretty intense foundation to stand on, so that you can peer down into it with a semblance of understanding. that is how i think of law school... the only hope of understanding the machine as it exists now, is to follow in the footsteps of those who built it.
i think it has become somewhat unwieldy, and we aren't maintaining it very well... but i love it. and i wish to study it so that i can make some necessary repairs. civilization itself is an engine and we all have to throw ourselves into it if we want it to run well. law is the part i am interested in because i am infatuated with mechanisms... cheers and good luck!

Law school is a good general education for anything in the legal or political arena. Many law school graduates go into government service, where an understanding of legal principles and legislation is important.
Other people go into law school for different reasons.
I just graduated, so feel free to contact me if you'd to chat.

As a legal expert, i completely consider you that interpreting regulation is as boring as sh1t. working in the direction of in regulation is interesting (until you're a tax barrister wherein case this is a lifeless as sh1t, however the fees are very interesting). besides the undeniable fact that, there is fairly little correlation between what you learn and what a legal expert does in prepare. this is why in case you think of for one 2nd which you would be able to avert solicitors expenditures interior the destiny via interpreting regulation, you would be regrettably upset. I studied biology and a nonetheless ought to pass to the healthcare expert.

think seriously about your choice... the market is saturated with lawyers, it sounds like you like criminal law...a very hard field to break into usually you have to pay your dues as a proscuteor and switch to defense. Low pay for the level of education required.
Consider cororate or business law money is much better and the working enviorment is much better

RE :Why should I be interested in studying law?
I am trying to find out why I should be interested... I mean I am... but I just can't put into words why... I want to know other people's reasons... I mean mine is in part the fact that just a little line in one law can save a person's life from death penalty... the whole what is a reasonable doubt and how do you prove something beyond it... Oh there is so much... but I want to know why other people are!! If there are any lawyers reading this... if I could contact you and talk to you through e-mail that would be great!!! I realyl need to figure out how to put my interest into words. but I want to find out other people's too!
Update: I am absolutely interested... I don't want to hear that if I don't know I shouldn't study... I just want to know why other people are and how I can put my interest into words... I mean it's what I want to do... I just need to figure out the best way to put why
