Just how accurate IS the bible?

This age-old question has been debated by scholars and theologians as infinitum.
Being the messiah / antichrist / godincarnate in this mortal body, I decided to
attempt to use my knowledge and memory (such as it is) to try and find a defnitive
answer. My findings were as follows:

The bible I own... the biggest one anyway, seems to be pretty accurate up to around
15 feet. Of course you have to throw it spine-first or it will open up and the air re-
sisatance will cause it to fall short, but this doesn't take much practice to master.
Beyond this range, the accuracy decreases immensly.

That is for hard-back bibles, soft-covers are a little less accurate.

The best bibles to use for throwing long-range are those little pocket testaments,
which are fairly accurate up to 19 feet... and the accuracy beyond that range doesn't
decrease as quickly. However, small testaments aren't worth much if you're (let's
say) trying to disarm someone wielding a dictionary or other such large tome. The
best short-range throwing bibles are the Gideon hotel bibles. They are mid-sized
and hardback, plus the sharp corners can cause little bruises with a direct hit. You
can also get them by the case, which makes them the perfect rapid-throwing bible.
As well, they are capable of knocking a copy of Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil"
or the like out of an assailant's hand with a precise hit.

On the subject of proper strategies for bible usage, one of the most asked questions
i came across was, "How do I fight someone who is armed with something like the 61
volume set of the Suma Theologica or the Encyclopedia Brittanica?"

Well, in a case such as that... you're offensive choices are somewhat limited. If you
can't take out your oppenent with your first hurl (a Family Bible is reccomended...
tho' you have to be at point-blank range to use one of those), you must confine your-
self to soley defensive measures.

The best known defense against someone using such a large volume of books is
to build a fort out of as many bibles as possible and just hide out hopoing you can
withstand the onslaught. As a precaution against those deadly direct hits, it is
reccomended that you rip the pages out of a bible (preferably one with onionskin
paper for a good scattering effect) and throw them into the air between you and your
attacker. This 'smoke screen' effect sometimes thros off the book-hurler's aim.

There have been some reports of another unorthodox defense that has worked in
times past. READING the "Begats" portions of the bible can sometimes lull your
opponent to sleep, allowing you to make an escape. I know reading books rather
than throwing them seems a bit odd but, it has been reported to have worked during
the battle of the Library of Congress vs. Mom's Used Books back in '96. "Mom" was
able to lul the entire advancing army of the Library of Congress to sleep with the
"Descendants of Ham"... and make her escape to the underground.

As a final note, I would just like to urge everyone to be careful before getting into a
book-throwing situation. Just remember, some people have an attitude of "If you're
gonna pull a book on me you better be prepared to use it". As with all situations of
contention... especially in times such as these, we should make every attempt to solve
a disagreement before we start hurling bibles at each other. I hope this elnightens
everyone somewhat on the age-old question concerning the bible's accuracy and uses.

Well actually the Bible is a compliation of 66 Books, written by several different authors, (all of whom were directed/inspired by: the Holy Spirit) written over an approximate 1500 year range! There is no other book like it in existance! While Greek & Roman mythology may be quiet remarkable in it's context, they are in no way relative to the Bible. The Bible is factual, foreign mythology is unprovable legends. However I do agree that humans are extremely capable of creating wonderfully fantasic artwork, as we ARE created in God's Image, & just take a gander at all the marvelously awesome things that HE created! :)

If you read it critically, as a work of man, yes it is decent literature. Not great but decent. For its time in antiquity as a literary art form it takes on a superiority to it. However, there are others that are equally fascinating. The Egyptian Book of the Dead comes to mind. Much older but still containing symbolism, metaphor, and ethical codes. It is interesting as well. Humanity has been striving for an ordered society for many years.

yes it is. I'm catholic and tell ppl that all the time. I think even a lot of bible thumpers know this. Im sure that will be surprising to you. As a matter of fact yes, the bible was written by average ppl. They wanted a tool for guidance in a holy way of life. It is not to be used as a litteral verse...just a guiding one. :)

It is. I love the stories too. Revelations freaks me out, but it is the Truth and while it's a persons Free Will to accept or deny God's Will, the "stories" will become reality to all.

Well that's interesting that you believe it's all myth. But you know...God's word never returns void. So at least you are reading it!
