My nickname always gets mispronounced, I thought of changing it, but I would'nt get use to it, nobody calls me by my real name anyway. Having an original name is sometimes a good thing so people won't call you by your first name and your last name. Like Sarah C and Sarah B. or something.

My first name is Rosalie and when I was growing up no one could ever remember it. I was always called Rosemary, Roseann, etc. Worst of all were the people who took it upon themselves to call me Rose because it was easier for THEM. Rose isn't even in my name. I have no problem being called Rosa because that actually is part of my name so I let that one slide.
When I got to junior high I started going by Rosie and have hardly ever had a problem since. Occasionally I get called Rose and I tell them "NO, it's Rosie which is short for Rosalie.
Actually I now live in an area with a large hispanic population and now I see a number of Rosalie's.

My last name always gets mispronounced and I can't stand it. I would love to change it, but since it's my husband's last name also he is against it.

Not a chance. I've had two people in my entire life pronounce my last name correctly on the first try, but it's gotten me countless acquaintances and interesting exchanges of dialog. After all, "How the hell do you pronounce that?" is a great way to start a conversation. Plus, it's great having something very obviously unique about yourself.

My name is Tarisoanea and it gets misprononced by EVERYONE!! But I still love my name because it is unique... I'd never actually CHANGE my name, but I make it easier for people by just going by Tari. Goodluck!

naw, my last name is so incredibly hard to understand I'd like the "e" to be pronounced. However if it burden's you give the other person a nickname to use or tell that one to lay off [in my case] the last name.
