For example you ask a friend if you can use their cellphone to call a mechanic because your car broke down, your friend responds by saying "Sorry but my cellphone battery is dead" Two minutes later you see that same friend chatting away on their cellphone. How would you take this incident or something similar. Would you ever trust this person again?

Or

You ask someone for a dollar, and they respong by saying they need it to ride the bus, but then you see them going into their car.

I would trust them until I see a pattern.
Were they waiting on an important phone call, with a low battery and chose to put their best interest ahead of yours?

My theory on something like a cell phone is this: they are ubiquitous, if you have one you should pay your bill (or buy credits or a phone card) and keep it charged.

If you don't have one, no one is obliged to share theirs with you.

Don't be too quick to judge.
Did you eventually find a mechanic or are you asking this from the broken down car?

I dont know
were you really going to call a mechanic?
or were you going to call australia?

do you try to borrow this persons cell phone all the time???

forget it and go use a payphone
be self reliant
it is not everyones job to help you.
offer them $5 and have them dial if you still want to borrow a phone

Nope, I wouldn't trust him/her. Especially if you ask for a favor like that. It's not like you wanted to use up all their cell time just to chit chat.

You can still be friends but just be cautious.
