I would like to know why people seem to feel that what I do with my body is any of their freakin' business. This is a return to the dark ages, people. Not even in the event of incest or rape??! My body, my choice. No one owns me.
"South Dakota voters are leaning against the state's tough new ban on abortions, a poll released Monday shows.
The statewide survey of 800 registered voters found 47 percent opposed the strict ban, while 39 percent favored it. The remaining 14 percent were undecided. The poll had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The Legislature voted overwhelmingly earlier this year to make abortion illegal in all cases — including rape and incest — unless the procedure was necessary to save the woman's life. It was to become law on July 1, but opponents gathered enough signatures to delay it and to let voters decide in November whether the ban should take effect."

Creating laws to govern a person's body has no other purpose than to control an individual's free will. It is just a new way of putting a collar on someone. When a fetus is capable of living on it's own, outside the mother's body, THEN it is a person. When men grow a uterus, THEN they may decide whether or not to abort a fetus. Until then -it isn't their business.

"If his/her own mother won't protect it then it's up to us to do it. Someone has to speak out for those without voices."
How presumptuous. This assumes that the fetus is a person with a soul. It's like saying, "Well, you're not a Christian, therefore we will pity you and force you to become a Christian because we know what's best for you."

Hey there Matt the Strong or should I call you one of GWB's lemmings. Not all women make the choice before they have sex. Did you not read the damn question? If a woman is raped or is a victim of incest, she should NEVER be forced to give birth. Who the **** are you to tell a woman what she can and cannot do?! ****** Republicans!
Awww...tear. Barbarian? Such big words for a narcissistic right winger. How does supporting a woman's right to choose under the right circumstances constitute labeling me as a barbarian? Believe me, I have compassion and I value life. I have two beautiful children of my own so don't tell me how I look at life. Although I have never had an abortion and I never will, I still have absolutely no right to tell any woman that she does not have the right to choose, and you sure as hell don't either. Now I do NOT agree with selective abortions or PBA (if you don't know what that is then look it up), but I do support it under other circumstances such as, medical reasons, severe birth defects, and of course rape or incest. Do you have a sister, aunt or better yet, a daughter of your own? What if your daughter came to you and told you she was pregnant, but if she actually gave birth there might be a chance she could lose her life. Or how about when she's 16 and comes home after being raped and beaten and shortly after she finds out she's carrying the child of her attacker? And you say I'm barbaric? If you have not reproduced yet, then I suggest that you never do.

The fact of the matter, is that an unborn child is NOT your body. This is biologically provable:
1. It has different DNA than you do.
2. The placenta protects the baby from your immune system, which if left alone, would kill the baby like a transplanted liver.
You make your choice when you have sex. Period end of story. Grow up about it.
To Shelby67grl:
Who am I to tell a woman what she can or cannot do? Is that really as big a question as:
Who are you to say who can and cannot live! You are a barbarian, not a 'free woman.' Life has no meaning to you, fine, but don't infect the rest of the world with your lack of compassion.

Contrary to popular belief, based on national polling statistics compiled in the past decade or so the majority of Americans support some form of limited abortion rights.
That is, abortion in cases of incest, rape, or when there are possible health consequences for the mother.
It's unlikely that a total ban on abortion will ever occur.

Once you become pregnant it is no longer just your body. There is a new, human life growing inside you. What choices does that innocent baby have? If his/her own mother won't protect it then it's up to us to do it. Someone has to speak out for those without voices. If you don't want the baby, then give it up for adoption. But, please don't end its life. What if your mother had aborted you? There is no reason to end the life of the unborn. Not even to save the mother's life. Everything possible should be done to save both mother and child.

A woman is fertile about 45-50 years - give or take - I think it is absurd to think a woman can go that many years without having an unplanned pregnancy. Yes, there are lots of birth control choices, but they all have their flaws and are not 100%, when a woman gets pregnant, it should be her choice. For those guys out there that think they are getting ripped, wear a condom every single time you have sex and help out a little, cause we all know that most men don't do **** when it comes to raising kids.

Hopefully, it won't pass. I am pro-choice. I don't believe the goverment or any organization has the right to tell a woman not to have an abortion. I am a FREE American woman with just as many rights as any other American. If they tell me that I can't have an abortion, then I will get some other way. My right of CHOICE!

South Dakota is only forcing women to travel for these procedures. They are not stopping it. They are just moving it.
To the dweeb in the answers-- that says-- it is not "her body and it has different DNA"
BUY A CLUE BUDDY.... That different DNA is essentially a parasite until the 6 month. She is the host.... she can legally and morally do as she pleases.

They'll find out soon enough that it won't work to ban abortions. More women are going to die by trying to do it themselves. Also, just drive to another state. It is my body, my choice. I think they should only ban abortions after a certain amount of weeks pregnant.

God Bless You....I hope you make the right decision...
You are right...it is your body, but think very hard before you do something you may regret when you are older....I had to go through that myself years ago....I have lived with it ever since and it still haunts me......I am very sorry for the choice I made back then and once you do this, there is no turning back the clock.....

I totally agree with you. It should be YOUR choice, I myself would not have an abortion, but I feel it is up to the woman, it should be her choice and only hers, let the government and polical crap stay out of it!!!
