I did. My son was breastfeeding, and I never had a period... just went from 9 months of pregnancy to 15 months of breastfeeding with no period to another pregnancy. Yahoo!
If you are thinking of using LAM as birth control, remember that it is very effective but only for the first 6 months or so... after that you may be fertile, even if not as fertile as you usually are. LAM is a great natural way for family spacing, though.

I breast fed my son until he was a year old and got pregnant when he was 9 months old. I got my period back when he was 8 months old and got pregnant the following month (it was a planned pregnancy). Although it is rare to get pregnant while you are breastfeeding in the beginning when the child is eating frequently and your hormone levels are raise because of the constant lactation and having no period it still is possible. You must also remember you never know when you will start that period so you have to think of yourself as always fertile. If I have had unprotected sex when my son was 7 1/2 months there's a good chance I would have gotten pregnant because although I hadn't had a period yet I was obviously ovulating because I had my period two weeks later. You have to remember you have a period because you ovulated not the other way around so you never know when your system will start back up.

2 B straight up with you, U R very fertile up 2 a year and a half after you had your last child. I don't know how old your child is, some people breast feed up 2 2-3 years, but if your last child was born within 1/12 years U R very fertile and very liable 2 get pregnant again.

YES! Are you TTC, not TTC or already PG?
For the first 6 months, as long as you are EXCLUSIVELY nursing, your periods haven't returned and baby has no long periods between nursings, BF is as good as condoms for birth control. After that, you do need to use other birth control methods.
I have gotten pregnant while breastfeeding twice.
My second was conceived when my first was 16 months old. He nursed all the way through my PG with her and then they tandem nursed for 16 months.
I was still nursing both #1 and #2 when my third was conceived. My oldest weaned about 2 months into the pregnancy. (He was 3.5 years old.) My second nursed until my third trimester and then weaned after the colostrum came in. I think she didn't like the taste. She was 22 mos.

I didn't but my husband's Aunt, by falsely believing that she could not get pregnant didn't learn the first time and got pregnant twice while breastfeeding so she had 3 boys very close together in age.

I did. Actually, we wanted our children very close together but I didn't want to stop nursing, thankfully God was on our side and I continued to nurse my oldest into my second trimester. I have two beautiful boys, 18 months apart. (they are now 6 & 7)

I got pregnant while breastfeeding my daughter! She was 11 months old and we had only recently introduced her to baby food - which she only got once a day... It CAN happen...

One of my friends at work did.
She couldn't take birth control because she was nursing and, well, she & her husband had babies back to back.
Our boss was not amused.

How would hold the babies head still enough to eat while you were doing that?
