I really need to make a filter for my fry tank, because so far, they are so small that they will get sucked right up the filter. It has to be easy and affordable. Could you explain it really clearly please?

I highly recommend getting sponge filters!! not only do they keep from killing your fry, but they are good biological filtration. Because of overpoplation I got desperate for chemical filtration one time in my fry tank and stuck my intake for the hanging filter into the uprise on a sponge filter (with the airstone and tube removed of course). I wouldn't recommend it, but it worked in a tight pinch when I had to get the ammonia down without added chemicals.

I remember a friend of mine covering his filter with some very fine ladies stocking, this was an emergency but it worked...the filter still had quite a strong pull so he meshed off an area of the tank with very fine plastic mesh with tank scilicone to prevent strong suction from the filter. Or possibly make your fry tank with an undergravel filtration system. Good luck with the wee fish!!!

Buy an undergravel filter... they work the best for a fry tank. Also put a couple algea eaters and cat fish in the tank as they won't bother the fry but will help in keeping your tank clean.
