There is no "season" for compost. True, it may decompose faster with the suns heat, but cover it with black plastic allowing room for air to get in and that may help. Basically though, It will do just fine anyway. Read up on the correct way to layer greens and browns ( not rocket science) and turn it over every few months. The plastic drums that rotate work really well for small batches I have heard. We always just piled it up by the garden and turned it every two months. If it's close to right it will be very warm when you stick your hand in it. 117 deg. or so. Good Luck.

This is as good a time as any to start a compost pile. You can add a lot to it this Fall when the leaves fall. I just answered another question about recycling, and I mentioned compost as being a basic recycled material.
