Are they just paid actors and actresses, or do they really have it? I'm surprised they aren't embarassed to go on there, with their friends watching or family....

Probably not...remember when Joey was hitting on this girl on Friends and then she ran off because she saw him on a giant STD poster???

No, they don't really have herpes. And struggling actors and actresses will do anything to get some face time on a national advertising campaign. Even if it is for a herpes medication.

I take that back, they MIGHT have herpes, but that is completely unrelated to why they got the commercial, lol.

And it is not illegal to put people on a commercial who don't really have herpes. It would be illegal to say the medication helped treat herpes if it really didn't. But a paid actor is perfectly acceptable. He is a representation of someone with herpes.

If you read the small print on the bottom of the screen it says that these people are in fact paid actors. I am sure they are not embaressed by being on these commercials then since there families know what they do for a living.

I imagine they are professional actors and not people that actually have herpes. I think the same can be said for pretty much any commercial. The people advertising tylenol might not really have headaches, people who drink coke on tv might prefer pepsi, and actors engaging in sporting events might not play them in real life.

So you also think there is justice league and superman, batman, spiderman and that there are talking ducks, mouse, rabbits (Disney Characters) and that people have fairy god parents who live in the fish bowl.

Kidding...

You are right, they may be just paid actors there are very few people in adverts who are actually what they say and in most of the cases they are either introduced or their names, location are given. for ex. The guy in subway advert. who advocates that its better than McD's did actually get slim eating subway sandwiches or Robert Jarvik, MD in one of the Cholesterol medicine advert. or some actress in Sleep number bed etc...
But yes.. in most of the cases they are just actors very few are real people talking unless specified otherwise...

I guess you already know this but just needed confirmation.. right?

They're certainly not embarassed when they get that fat paycheck, either.
