Wasn't it some non-musical invention that you had to wave your hands around over a "wave" or magnetic field of some sort? I think the original Flash Gordon series (1950's) used it too? You can tell it's a slow Monday at the office! That's because it's too ---- HOT & HUMID to think straight!

Some of the unusual sounds were produced using a Theremin; a strange instrument that used electric current to produce sound. It was played by moving the hand across the electric field, and was very hard to control.
