It certainly has the potential to be. Just some accidents here and there to polarize the super powers, incite religious sentiments and the chain reaction cannot be stopped.

All the factors are in place... Traditional religious and cultural differences spanning more than a thousand years have polarized the passions of people with well equipped military machines. The Crusades were fuelled by the religious fervor of Saracens and early Christians. The fervor of radical Muslims is only too apparent, but the Christian fervor is lacking.
