Oh, but Ethan, anyone who ISN'T a Democrat/liberal is narrow-minded and MUST be racist. After all, none of us non-Democrats believe that minorities should be spoon-fed. No, we believe that they should be treated EQUAL. That means we're racist.

Hi there Ethan, you really are the most talented person I've come across on yahoo answers, I mean who else on here can hear racist remarks through there eyes. You should enlist in the army, maybe they could use your talents as some secret weapon or something.
You seem to have a lot of fighting spirit in you, but you've never mentioned your service record, have you got one, or do you just like the sound of your own voice ?
Your country needs you, get out there in Iraq and do your duty, you never know they might even give you a medal, and then you can be really proud of yourself.
Love & Peace

well, ethan m. calling republicans racist is just a generalization or stereotype, just like calling democrats bleeding hearts or commies. it seems like a lot of republicans have tended to be against many ideas that have benefitted minorities, like affirmative action, school desegregation, minimum wages, civil rights laws etc. years ago the southern democrats were considered racist and the republicans were anything but racist, but times have changed, now most of the southern democrats are now republicans and much of the northern republicans now call themselves democrats ... and so the racist label followed the people in the party as the party labels flip flopped. make any sense?

I think part of the accusation comes from the realization that most Republicans do not support state-sanctioned support for minorities (Affirmative Action, reparations). Critics also interpret Republican opposition to social programs as crypto-racist, since these programs disproportionately help minorities.
It's all a little silly really, kind of like claiming Democrats are anti-religious since they do not support state-sponsored religion. But, that's how the thinking goes on their end.

Because many on the Left looks at racism thru a colored (no pun intended) lens.
They see any disagreement with their positions as racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-poor and/or war mongering.
They refuse to see that there is some validity to other points of view. The same can be said (using different adjectives) for a many on the right.

"If he is racist why would he appoint a black woman as secretary of state"
- to throw you off, dump ***. It's a ploy, a ruse, a token appointment. And besides that they connect on an intellectual level (I'll let you figure that one out).

The same reason they say he is a war monger, an idiot etc etc. they listen to the far left because they seem to think ranting and raving, calling names will get them their power back, it stimulates their intellectual superiority. It's sad that in a time of war, a war that is very difficult to fight anyway. But to lie and put down our military and try to divide our country just because you want the big chair in the white house back makes me ashamed that I once was a democrat. I am not a republican but I am a conservative. I just hope people wake up and unite in our efforts to just stay in existence.

It is not a matter of what is said it is a matter of what is done. To the left, Race is a key issue in the US, to the right it is overplayed. The Bush administration has ignore key racial issues in the US during his tenure. Since those issue are ignore it looks, by the actions and commitments, that racism is an issue.

I think the word racist has been so overused that it is beginning to lose its original meaning. Hispanics call strong immigration law racist, Arabs call supporting Israel racist etc.
