I get it for a day every month - the first day of my period, where I just feel so faint and sick. I know, everybody gets it, but it's stopping me from doing what I want/need to do. Does anybody have any remedies?

Make sure you aren't anemic. If you're iron levels are low, that can cause faintness. Many women experience anemia during their periods, especially very heavy periods. Talk to your doctor - they can check your blood and see if you are anemic. If that's the case, you may need to take iron supplements, or just make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet. If you don't eat a lot of red meat or eggs, then make sure you eat vegetables high in iron like broccoli and spinach.

drink really cold water

your body will need to warm it
which raises your heart rate and your blood pressure
which brings more oxygen etc to your brain so you do not feel as faint

If it is really so bad it effects your daily life even if it is one day you should talk to your doctor

also you could look up the 24 hour nurse line under your local hospital in the phone book you can ask a nurse and they can give you better advice

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids. As a matter of fact, overdue the fluids if you can! This can help give your blood pressure a healthy boost. Also, snack on fruits with natural sugars, and don't skip meals.
