If it was a honey bee the stinger would be left inside and you'd have to worry about that, but you said it was a wasp. Wasps take the stinger with them and it's not left in the person who got stung. Even if the stinger did get left with you, if it's still there today it's empty and there's no sense stressing over getting it out. It will come out on it's own eventually like a splinter would. That's basically all it would be by now since it's been a day and it would be empty.
Try putting a band aid with honey on it on the sting hole. I think obviously it's a bad sting, but that you'll be fine. If you were having a bad allergic reaction your throat would have closed off and you'd have had to be rushed to the emergency room WITHIN 2 hours of getting stung, so I'm pretty sure you're fine. If your ankle starts feeling numb or turning green however you should ask a doctor just to be double sure. If it just itches and is swollen and a bruised feeling, you should be fine. Try the honey and put it up with an ice pack several times the rest of the day. It should be better by tomorrow. :)
Next time you get stung put honey on it immediately. The sooner you treat a sting, the less it's going to bother you.

I t might be a really good idea to go see a doctor.
You could try putting very hot water on it, as hot as you can stand.
You really should do this immediately AFTER you are stung.
Many insect venoms are heat -unstable and can be decommissioned, or made less painful, at least the itching will be reduced substantially.
By the way, some people ARE highly allergic to bee and wasp stings and really should carry an Epi-pen to inject themselves immediately on such occasions. Serious things can happen, your throat CAN close, tongue can swell, loss of ability to breathe, etc.---just as with allergic reactions to peanuts.
Please pay serious attention to this:
If this is the SECOND time you have been stung by a wasp, and did NOT react badly the first time like you did this time, you better see your doctor as soon as possible. An increased reaction may suggest that you could be in major trouble NEXT time. Be aware and be prepared.

Take a credit card and pressure it against your skin hard...about 1 inch away from the sting...slide it over the sting quicly to try and force it out...if it doesn't come out don't worry, it won't kill you, (or at least you should hope, some people are higly allergic and die from stings) take a little water and put baking soda in it and put it on the sting...or cut an onion and put it on there...(ha ha, onion is part of my nickname) If it continues to get worse, see a doctor.

Take some Benadryl and put an ice pack on the swollen area. Calamine lotion may help with the itching. If it does not improve, you need to see the doctor. If you are faint, feeling queasy, sweating, getting red bumps elsewhere, you need to see the doctor immediately because you are having an allergic reaction.

You are having a reaction but if you aren't having breathing problems you'll probably be OK.Got all the stinger out?
A benadryl ( if you can take them) might help the itching.
If you develop problems breathing go to Dr asap. The swelling will probably go down after a while if not after 24 hrs more see a Dr.

I know how you feel I got it in the hand the other day. Try a thick mixture of baking soda and water, or toothpaste is to help also. If it isn't better tomorrow call the ER and ask if you should be seen.
Good Luck

I have a feeling that you may be allergic to bee/wasp stings. I suggest using "after-bite" on the stung and swollen area and reporting to your nearest physician.

I believe you are having a normal reaction. My son was bit twice last week! Get some Benadryi/Cortisone lotion for the itch. The swelling will go down...itching will be helped with the cream I recommend. Good luck!

Try a baking soda and water paste. If you're having trouble breathing, it may be an allergic reaction. Go see the doctor!

a visit to the emergency room is on order. you probably did not get the stinger out and now you are getting a adverse reaction to it and the venom.
OTC Benadryl
