OK heres the trade proposed to me:
MY: Ryan Howard, Alex Rios, and Jon Lester
-for-
HIS: Paul Konerko, Adam LaRoche, and Jason Schmidt

Heres my present team .. im kinda in need of some pitching:
C-Mauer
1b-Howard
2b-Sanchez (had to drop Weeks)
SS-Lugo
3b-Huff(ouch...)
OF-Carlos Lee
OF-J. Dye
OF- A. Rios
UTL- Overbay
BN- Baldelli
BN-Dmitri Young

SP- Kazmir (DL untill aug 9), Jer. Weaver, Bedard, Lester, Woody Williams, Lidle, J. Francis, Ohka, Lowe

RP-Nathan, Fr. Rodriguez

12 team league with standard scoring (head 2 head)
R HR RBI SB AVG W SV K ERA WHIP

i feel it will really hurt my team to lose those two bats.. i do get Konerko, but i dont really like LaRoche .. he has some pretty good numbers .. i just never had the desire to get him .. if some one could talk me into wanting him ..
...
i dont know when i would play him either .. i mean Konerko would play first and its between overbay and him(LaRoche) for UTL, for the most part atleast..

i need a 3b now that Weeks is hurt and sanchez has to play short.. huffs playing third now and he's been struggling.. and the only third basemen this guy has is a-rod ..?? ..

and i really need some GOOD advice because the deadline is August 13

open to ANY advice about what i should do .. i was forth in my league but my team got trampled last week 3-5-2 and now im in 7th ..
Thanks in advance

Well, the obvious is you're in a pickle. Actually, the pitching isn't that bad. You could use a stud starter, but other than that, it's not bad.

As for a third baseman, consider Brandon Inge from the Tigers although he has a low average, but he does have at least 20 homers this year, so he might give you some offense. You might also want to consider Aramis Ramirez or Chad Tracy

I'd do this trade because even though you lose Howard, you are picking up Konerko and you get that stud starter that you're looking for in Schmidt. You can always put LaRoche on waivers and pick up somebody else off waiver wire, maybe another starting pitcher. There still has to be some starters that are on the waiver wire.

Ok first of all don't do the trade. You need pitching help, but Schmidt has slipped to the point he's no better than Lester. Rios is better than LaRoche, and while it may take him a little while to get untracked he should be better when it really counts in the playoffs. Konerko and Howard are close. I prefer Howard. So no reason to trade.

Now for the rest of your team. Drop Young, and Williams for sure. Hopefully you can also find better options than Ohka, Lowe and Lidle. I'd try and find another FA closer. Are Carmona, F. Cordero or even Meadows available? Possibly Dempster? I've seen those guys sitting in the FA pool in some leagues. Some SP I like are Scott Olsen, Josh Johnson and Cole Hamels. They may very well be gone. If so Ian Snell might be a good option nobody has noticed. Antonio Reyes of The Cardinals and even Nolasco of the Marlins have more upside than Williams as well.Basically look for good strikeout totals compared to IP and at least decent era & whip. I don't concern myself with wins as luck is too much a factor.

I don't think I would take that deal even if I were smoking crack when it was offered. Your pitching, I notice, features Cory Lidle, who will at least get a few more wins with the Yankees behind him. You are sending out a semi unproven young stud arm (Lester) and two guys who are tearing everybody up for one guy who's tearing stuff up, a good starter, and LaRoche. You aren't getting enough in return for these three, I wouldn't pull the trigger on this deal.

I would not make that deal. In fact I am not sure I would trade Howard for anyone . I would also put Baldelli in for Overbay in Utilities.
