Any local places? I live in central Florida.

Pet stores only sell live rats & I don't like to watch one animal kill another. If they are to be killed, I like it to be humanely.

You can get some offline, but shipping frozen stuff is WAAAY too expensive. Some pet stores sell frozen, but not all... They're usually overpriced too. Your best bet is to find the closet reptile expo, exotic pet show etc (I'm sure in a place like Florida there's a fair amount)... Even if it's only a few times a year, and stock up. Most of those places have decently priced suppliers where you can buy bulk.

Most pet stores sell frozen rats, just ask around. Also try to find snake breeders and large-scale hobbiests in your area, because some will breed and freeze their own rodents. My friend just got a really good deal by buying rodents from a wholesaler. He works at a pet store and asked the rodent delivery guy if he could buy right from him, and got them for 1/3 of the price the store retailed them for. You can order them online, too, but I don't know any sites offhand.

You can purchase mail order rats and mice on-line and most of the time they're cheaper than pet stores, reptile stores are also good places to purchase frozen rodents.

I found a few for you. But you could ask a zoo or local falconry group, maybe they would order extra for you & you could all get a discount?

I talked to a zoo keeper & he says some snakes won't eat the frozen ones, or only if you wave them around a bit to encourage them to eat them.

I wouldn't know, but check online at places like petsmart.com, or go to google and type something like 'frozen rats in for sale in Florida'. I used to know a website where they mail animal supplies like that to you, but I forgot what it was

Try:

www.ratsicles.com

www.frozenrodent.com

www.rodentpro.com

or

www.frozendirect.com

These sites have been tested and work...no worries and they (rats) usually come pre-packaged for easy storage...

any other questions go to:

www.redtailboa.net

it is a great website that can answer almost all questions that you could think of...although the site is mainly for red tail boa owners...like my wife and I...anyone can use it and everyone is real friendly...I love that site and am there frequently.
