Are the Tigers insane??? Shelton might be slumping but sending him to the minors is stupid. Even with Casey aboard Shelton is outhiting Young, Monroe and Thames. Monroe and Thames are too young to be prospects and are not future stars. Shelton is too old to be sent to the minors and proved he had the talent to be in the Bigs. So at worst they could use Shelton at DH and to spell Casey. Not that Casey is having a great year. Shelton has outhit Casey all year as well. This may be a crucial mistake that destroys the Tigers. Not just this year but the next and down the road. There will be a time when the Tigers really want Shelton to sign for under market value and this trip to the minors is probably going to prevent that. You just don't treat a player who's doing well like that.

Georgie Porgie there are 3 mistakes involved with sending Shelton to the minors. First he has nothing to prove there. He's too old ot be at AAA. Just as the Mariners hurt Edgar Martinez's career and the Astro's hurt Berkmans, the Tigers are damaging Shelton's in my opinion.

Next mistake in the move. Shelton will be understandably upset about this. This will eventually have him leaving the Tigers I think.

It sends the wrong message to other youngsters on the team. Falter a little and the team will send you to the minors. It's not like Shelton was hitting .240 or something. Oops thats Young and Monroe hitting .240.

Many players slump. Look at A-Rod right now. Look at Texierra over with the Rangers. Look at Barry Bond's first few seasons as a Pirate.

That's pretty dumb on the Tigers part.

That is NOT a dumb move at all.

Don't get me wrong, I like Chris...but you have to admit he has been slumping (alot) lately. Going to Toledo will give him the time he needs to work on his swing and get it back.

PLus, he is still part of Tigers...so they can always call him back up.

Sean Casey will make a huge difference....You will see, Sean will be the new man!

I repeat, this is NOT a mistake.

Shelton has just plain stuck it up lately....he has put so much pressure on himself---and going down he will be able to get back together.

Don't worry, be happy!

I have complete faith in David Dombrowski & Jim Leyland!

surprising but casey give the tigers a very much needed quality left handed bat. when the clubs are able to expand the roster then the tigers probably will bring him back!
