Makes sense.
Because:
- one CAUSE of poverty = too many children
- main REASON a woman chooses an abortion = poverty
- main CAUSE of crime = poverty

I read about this in a book called Freakonomics. It talked about the nationwide drop in the crime rate in the late 1980's and early 1990's, about the same time when all the "aborted" children whould have been teenagers. I found it to be an interesting theory, particularly when you take the fact that the states that legalized abortion before the Supreme Court case experienced a drop in crime sooner than the rest of the country. The guy didn't try to claim that abortion was definitely the cause of the drop in crime, but he put forward some pretty convincing arguments.

The "fact" is statistically coincidental. While abortions rose, the 0 population movement, and family friendly causes, also decreased the number of young people in the over-all population. This decrease in the number of youth in the population is the primary explanation for the drop in crime. I should also note that crime as a statistic in the US is over reported. Criminals make up a very small portion of the over all population. They are something akin to .3% of the total population of the US.

What about the murder rate.
Which would you want a sister that was a murder or a nephew that was a car thief and voted smurf.
Oh don't get me rong (texas for wrong) I know it's a problem.
See we were doing ok back when guys didn't get all the women knocked up and leave them to raise a child. But now days people are recrasexual and abortion is part of it.
I say make sex a crime. It's addictive so it should be banned. Anyone caught having sex looses their American citizenship and gets deported.

That if you are suggesting x causes y
then you need to prove it with evidence.

get back to us when you got a real question.

There probably is a relationship. However, to suggest one will get you called a racist.
BTW: One of the reasons that Planned Parenthood was founded was to reduce the number of births in minority and lower-class families. See Margaret Sanger and Eugenics below.

I don't think there is a correlation. If you are referring to the correlation between legalization of abortion and the crime of abortion dropping (when it was illegal), then that is pretty obvious. Legalize all drugs and we will have no drug offenders. It is pretty much that simple.

If you could show a direct cause/effect relationship between the two. You'd be the talk of the sociological/political community.

I think I would like to see the numbers. Wow I can see the headline now . . . .MURDERING UNBORN BABIES LINKED WITH DROP IN VIOLENT CRIME! I'm sure the New York Times would be right on top of it.

I don't know if their is any link in the numbers, but it would make sense to me. If unfit parents have less kids, then less kids have unfit parents, and that could lead to less crime.
But still, who knows.
