I have, myself, asked questions to try to start conversations on a non partisan level about war, environment etc. I have asked REPEATEDLY for educated responses. Though I do get a few, I usually get people offering no sources and blaming one party or the other.

The underlying question to that I guess is: Why can't people read?

Oh, and another question....why is it when I point out that a conservative remark (such as: clinton is a commie) has no basis and they should have read the question, why am I automatically a liberal?

And a bad one at that?

Although I agree that people should give educated responses....the question truly becomes where these people are getting their education. Recently, I had a response to a question that upset me. The individual stated my question would be better if I added references. Although I can appreciate the statement of references......I can not believe that references validate what a person is saying or writing. I point to the fact that there were many references to WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ. All the Republican Politicians climbed on that banner....BASED ON BADLY REFERENCED & MANIPULATED INFORMATION. Now, years later and 80,000 + INNOCENT IRAQI LIVES LOST.....I don't think I need a reference to know what we have done is wrong and that we have blood on our hands! How do we sleep at night.....knowing that some little boy or girl no longer dreams or has hope and we (AMERICANS) are responsible for their deaths? Do you (or any American) feel safer by the acts the we as Americans have committed in the name of safety (remember we went in for safety and came out morphing safety into democracy.....contrary to the President's Philosophy democracy and safety DO NOT MEAN THE SAME THING...LOOK IT UP IN THE DICTIONARY!)

I guess the point I am trying to make is this........we make too much out of references and then on the other side give no value to what we see & do and common sense. (I know there are people who would argue that common sense is a vague philosophical moral concept). If all we value is the words of reference......without the value of reality in relationship to reference, then we have reduce all of humankind to words and words have thus become meaningless!!!

I would answer this question but you are asking for an opinion and I have no factual basis for my answer, just what I have learned from life experience of 60 years. So if nobody else answers then you will be forced to give best answer to a non answer and that is worse, then an opinon.

You don't have any factual basis for your question. How do you know your question to be true. It is only your opinion. 99% of all politics is opinion only. You can have a misinformed opinion, but you cannot have a wrong opinion.

Probably because they have an over-inflated sense of self-esteem. It was fostered on them by a school system (thanks NEA) and parents (thanks Dr. Spock) that are making sure that they feel good about themselves rather than actually accomplishing something.

After all, if they think it, it MUST be true. Mommy said so.
