Have a 3 bath home. Noticed bad odor occasionally from only one bathroom. Went on the roof to check out the vent, and couldn't find one. The other two have pipe vents coming out of the roof. Was this an oversite on the builder's part?

Probably not. The vent pipes that you saw are for the plumbing system. It is permissible to hook vents for a bathroom drain system into the vent for another. Check to see that the traps in the lavatory and especially the floor, tub, and shower drain have water in them. Pour three or four cups in each as a matter of course every couple of weeks. If the water in a trap dries out, sewer gas can get into the living area.

Some states allow what is called an air admittance valve. If the spring failed it could be letting the smell in. These are usually used when windows or vaulted ceiling with no wall all the way up, which eliminates the vent. There should be some sort of access to this valve. The link below will show you what to look for.

Hope it helps.

it is possible that the vent for that bathroom is joined with the other vents in the attic before it exits . if you get a gargling or slow drainage it may not be vented. go on roof and have someone flush the toilet in question while you listen at each vent for rushing air and water

Sure sounds that way--I am surprised they could get a CO wthout one. Are you sure that two of the bathrooms aren't useing the same pipe vent? That is possible.

yes, definitly there should be at least some flex pipe coming off of the fixture vented near a roof jack or exhausted outside.
NEVER MIND I THINK I MISUNDERSTOOD YOUR QUESTION.
