You've got to be kidding. All that matters is that he's a pretty good director with some good films under his belt. You've got too much time on your hands if you're really trying to get an answer to that question.
Successful Hollywood insiders keep their religious, sexual, and political lives to themselves;as well it should be.
Go out on a couple of casting calls. you may be pleasantly surprised. But avoid asking the casting director what religion he is.

My guess is that he is like many Hollywood liberals.
They take no strong stand on Israel issues.
That makes him and Steven S. and Barbara S. sympathizers with liberal causes...

Hard to say, but being from Chicago, my guess is that he is a Democrat. Probably old-school, and probably more conservative at that.
