Why is everyone making such a big deal about Mel Gibson ranting under the influence? It is more important that he was driving under the influence.(80 in a 45m.p.h. zone). I could care less what he said. His actions could have killed someone, but not his mouth.

Mel said some anti-semitic stuff. That coupled with his allegedly anti-semetic movie is going to fuel the media, and therefore a bigger story than yet another Hollywood DUI arrest.

because of two things:

1) The police report hid the fact that he verbally assaulted the officer in order to protect Gibson's image.

2) Anti-semitism is treated in America as bad as (if not worse than) racism. While I don't completely agree with it, I do think that hatred of any sort based only on your genetic make up is wrong.

It's what he said that has people up in arms. And rightly so. He apparently showed his true colors ... that he hates the Jews! He was going 87 mph in a 45 mph zone. And that's certainly upsetting. But I find what he said equally upsetting.
