Its big and sticking out and uncomfortable so you feel the need to hold on to it.

Well I hold it when I walk or stand because my center of gravity is so off that I feel like it's just going to fall down! I also do it other times I guess cuz I just love my daughter already and I think its cool to try and guess what body parts shes sticking out at me..
its one of the best things about being pregnant..

Well it kind of sticks out wherever you go and it's natural to always touch something that doesn't feel right on your body. I did that a lot when I got a wart on my thumb. Also, there's a huge connection between the baby and its mommy!! Don't you want to be as close as possible to the living soul in your stomach??

It's the mother instinct in you. You want to make sure that the baby is ok. Others are probably just excited about it and keep touching their bump in awe.

I think it's love. I had the most wonderful amazing feeling of love come over me then I rubbed my babies. I read to them, and I talked to them. It took five years to have my first child, she was so very much wanted, and some of it might been that "Yes, you are really pregant " I just loved her so much that I wanted to touch her, so touching my stomach or rubbing my belly I felt closer to her. My husband even rubbed or touch her alot too. My puppy would lay in my lap and when she started kicking, my puppy loved to feel her move. Amazing love and just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. God bless us all.........

i did the whole time i was pregnant and for like a month after i had my daughter
I think when i was pregnant i did it because i was so amazed that i could create a fully functional human being. there was a human in my tummy. my lil perfect human.
after delivery...i felt very empty. like i was missing something.

It's basic maternal instinct kicking in. Its the same reason you tend to rub your baby's back when he's in your arms. You're subconsciously comforting him and sharing your affection.

Well it is either that or use it to rest you plate on while you eat, lol
I honestly think it is just your materanl instints starting to nurture and love your baby. Enjoy it, it goes way too fast.
