I cut my foot swimming at the lake saturday, and it bled for 3 hours, i held a towel on it to get it to stop bleeding. i was a pretty deep cut, but i decided not to go to the doctor. i hate going to the doctor, anyways, it has been 2 days since then and i am just wondering as long as i keep antibiotic cream and banages on it will it heal on its own? its hard to walk on my foot, i am afraid it will try to rip open and start bleeding again....

Go to the ER. For starters you said you didn't know when your last tetanus shot was, that's a start. The lakes and beaches are full of bacteria and that's a good place to pick up tetanus. So number 1, go get that tetanus shot. While you are there for this tetanus shot, they will examine the wound and see what treatment is necessary whether it be stitches, antibiotic or just a bandage.
The foot is the WORST place you can get an infected cut. Go now.

you probably do need stiches ... if it bled for three hours, also the skin on the sole of your feet is thick and tough for a reason ... it is subject to stress and pressure contantly.
Even if it does heal to a degree, the next time you run jump or do anything out of the norm ... the scab can break and you'll bleed again.
Plus what kind of lake was it? Fresh water? Salt water? River water? The wound might be infected with something interesting from that water ... go to an ER soon ... you're probably in for a 6 hour stay for them to call a podiatrist to clean the wound throughly and get it the stiches if needed ... in the mean time limit your walking as the rubbing of the bandage compromises the intergrity of the scab.

The reason people hate to visit the doctor or the dentist is because of the pain experienced through treatments, being told that they are living a wrong lifestyle or the fear of being told bad news.
Not visiting your doctor or dentist, however, will most likely result in a worsening of the condition.
Do yourself a favor and go see your doctor. If you don't like your doctor for some personal reason, then get yourself a different doctor. He may say that stitches are not necessary.

It's too late for stitches now. You might have a scar, but on the arch of your foot, it will be barely noticeable. Go buy some butterfly bandages.
